Brenda McKown has been with the Catlett Law Firm since 1989. She currently serves on the firm’s government relations team and is a registered lobbyist. Additionally, she assists the firm’s clients with various needs such as import/export coordination, corporate recordkeeping compliance, corporate franchising, business formation, estate planning and other taxation issues. Ms. McKown serves as the firm’s office manager and is also the property manager for the 18-storey Tower Building in downtown Little Rock.
Ms. McKown has served for several years on various educational boards in Arkansas. She was elected to the McRae School Board in 1995 and served there for eleven years. In 2005 she was first elected to the Beebe School Board; she was reelected in 2012 and continues to serve on that Board. She was elected to the state-wide Arkansas School Boards Association in 2009 and in 2012 she was elected by the Association’s member to serve on its Executive Committee.
Previously, Ms. McKown served as the principal logistics coordinator for a large import/export business with its primary hubs in Little Rock and Moscow, Russia. In that role, Ms. McKown ordered the products to be shipped and coordinated the consolidation of the products in centralized locations for shipment preparations. She prepared the necessary documentation for U.S. and Russian customs officials to allow the international shipments to occur. She tracked the various shipments to assure safe and timely delivery of the orders. She coordinated the billing, accounting, and vendor payments for the company and she handled the necessary currency exchanges needed to pay the company’s bills in various countries.
